Ninja vs. Cosori Air Fryer: AF181 Pro XL or TurboBlaze 6-Quart?

Choose the Ninja AF181 Pro XL if:

• You cook mostly frozen fries, nuggets and tots. Max Crisp runs at a fixed 450°F, and Ninja's owner's guide recommends it for prepackaged frozen foods like fries and nuggets.
• You want the extra half quart: Ninja rates the basket for up to 9 lb of chicken wings.
• You want the simplest answer on the coating: SharkNinja lists no PTFE for AF18X units made after August 15, 2024 or bought after January 1, 2025.
• You like six plain buttons and a slightly lighter unit (12.57 lb vs. 13.2 lb, by the makers' figures).

Choose the Cosori TurboBlaze if:

• You want to set any temperature from 90°F to 450°F on any preset, including Proof, Dehydrate and Broil.
• You often cook flat foods in one layer, like salmon fillets, cutlets or a full batch of wings: its square basket has more floor area.
• You want the unit to shut off on its own when you pull the basket.
• You want the longer warranty: Cosori advertises two years vs. one from Ninja, though its policy page labels the two-year term for California residents, so check the terms for your state.

• Temperature control. On the Ninja, only Max Crisp reaches 450°F, and you can't adjust it; Air Fry, Air Roast, Bake, Reheat and Dehydrate stop at 400°F, per the owner's guide. The Cosori lets you choose 90–450°F on every function, and its five fan speeds change with the preset (you can't set them yourself).
• Basket shape. The Ninja holds more volume (6.5 qt vs. 6 qt), but TechGearLab measured more flat cooking area in the Cosori: 85.6 sq in vs. 74.8 sq in. If you crisp in a single layer, the smaller-rated Cosori fits more.
• Pulling the basket to shake. Cosori says the TurboBlaze shuts off when the basket comes out mid-cook. Ninja's guide has you pause with the Start/Pause button, and TechGearLab listed the lack of a pause on basket removal among the Ninja's cons.

Cosori lists the TurboBlaze at 11.8 x 14.4 x 11.9 in with its handle. SharkNinja's current page lists the AF181 at 16.3 x 12.6 x 14.17 in and 12.57 lb, noticeably larger than what TechGearLab measured on the unit itself (about 11.2 x 11.7 x 14.1 in, vs. about 11.7 x 11.5 x 14.2 in for the Cosori). In practice the two take up about the same counter space; if a cabinet opening is tight, plan for SharkNinja's bigger figure.

Leave room around either one while it runs: both push hot air out of vents, and Ninja's guide asks for adequate space above and on all sides for air circulation. Pull it out from under a low cabinet before you start cooking.

The Ninja's six functions are Max Crisp, Air Fry, Air Roast, Bake, Reheat and Dehydrate. The Cosori adds Broil, Frozen, Proof and Keep Warm to Air Fry, Roast, Bake, Dehydrate and Reheat. Proof (90°F by default) and Keep Warm (170°F by default) have no equivalent among the Ninja's six functions, and the Cosori's Broil reaches 450°F where the Ninja's adjustable modes stop at 400°F.

TechGearLab found the Ninja's temperature steps awkward for dialing in a precise setting and liked the Cosori's top-mounted touch controls, with separate time and temperature adjustment. If you mostly press one button for frozen food, the Ninja's simpler panel is no handicap.

PTFE is the classic nonstick fluoropolymer; Cosori's own disclosure page names it as an example of a PFAS chemical. Both brands publish the California cookware disclosure the state requires, and those documents say more than the product pages.

• Ninja. SharkNinja's disclosure, the document its PFAS-info QR link opens, lists PTFE as the nonstick coating on AF180-series air fryers (the AF181 is part of that series) made before August 15, 2024. Its list for AF18X units made after that date, or bought after January 1, 2025, names metals and other chemicals but no PTFE. The owner's guide describes a ceramic-coated basket.
• Cosori. The product page calls the basket and crisper plate “PFAS-free ceramic-coated.” Cosori's disclosure, updated April 15, 2026, lists the CAF-DC601-KUS under two SKUs: one ending in 161Y with PTFE among its chemicals, one ending in 161A without PTFE. The replacement basket and crisper plate appear in both versions too. The disclosure doesn't say how to tell them apart, so if PTFE-free matters to you, ask Cosori which version you're getting.

Under California law, cookware sold in the state with listed chemicals on food-contact surfaces must carry a “This product contains:” statement on the label. Check the box before you toss it.

The two draw almost the same power. At the US average residential rate of 18.16 cents per kWh (EIA, August 2026 data released October 23, 2026), a 20-minute cook at full rated power costs at most about 11 cents in either one; the heater cycles once the basket is up to temperature, so real use is lower. Five 20-minute cooks a week come to at most about $27 to $28 a year, and the gap between the two is under $1. Rates vary widely by state, so check yours on your utility bill.

The amperage matters more than the bill. Ninja lists 14.6 A; the Cosori's 1,725 W works out to about 14.4 A at 120 V. Kitchen outlets sit on 15 A or 20 A circuits, so running a toaster or kettle on the same circuit at the same time can trip the breaker. Ninja's guide also says not to use an extension cord.

Both makers sell replacement parts for these models: SharkNinja offers an air fryer basket and an AF180 crisper tray on the AF181's page, and Cosori's disclosure lists the TurboBlaze replacement basket and crisper tray (CRP-DC601RB-KUS and CRP-DC601RC-KUS). To make a basket last, follow the care notes: Cosori recommends warm water, mild soap and a non-abrasive sponge, and Ninja's guide rules out metal scouring pads.

Ninja covers the AF181 with a one-year limited warranty. Cosori advertises a two-year limited warranty on the product page, but its warranty policy, effective September 9, 2026, heads that term “California Residents Only” and doesn't say what applies elsewhere, so confirm the coverage for your state when you register.

• Two foods at once: the Ninja DualZone 10-QT Dual Air Fryer (DZ901) has two independent 5-qt baskets with their own fans and heaters, plus Smart Finish and Match Cook.
• No nonstick coating at all: the Ninja Crispi 4-in-1 Glass Air Fryer cooks in 4-qt and 6-cup glass containers, which SharkNinja says are made without PFAS and PTFE. It's a smaller, different kind of appliance.
• Check older Cosori models before you buy used: the CPSC recall of about 2 million Cosori air fryers (February 23, 2023) covered models such as the CP158-AF, CP137-AF, CS158-AF and CP258-AF. The TurboBlaze's CAF-DC601 isn't on that list.

We checked that both models are sold new in the US. Specs and disclosures can change between production runs, so check the label on the box you receive.
